
Vallarta leads the country in hotel occupancy

According to the Datatur portal, Puerto Vallarta ranked second in national hotel occupancy during the second week of the year, with 79.4%; this represents a 15% increase over the same period in 2022 when 64.6% was recorded.
Cancun topped the list for this second week, which ran from January 9 to 15, with an occupancy rate of 80.8%; Los Cabos came in third with a rate of 70.4%.
Acapulco, Guerrero, came in fourth place with 62%, followed by San Miguel de Allende at 51.4%, Mexico City at 51.4%, Villahermosa at 48.5%, and Tuxtla Gutierrez at 39.6%.
Aguascalientes was ninth with 33.7% occupancy, Querétaro was eleventh with 33.2% occupancy, and San Cristóbal de Las Casas was twelfth with 32.3%.
Datatur tracks 12 destinations with a combined occupancy of 46.4% in the second week of 2022. They reached 59.8% in 2023, a 13.4% increase.
It is important to remember that during the week of December 19-25, 2022, Puerto Vallarta had an occupancy level of 81.8%, placing it first in the country.
Furthermore, Jalisco achieved 57% occupancy with approximately 1.2 million visitors in the state’s main tourist destinations from December 19, 2022, to January 1, 2023.
