According to data from the Datatur platform, which also shows that the destination has been in third place for a month, Puerto Vallarta recorded a hotel occupancy rate of 66.8% during the 24th week of 2023, from June 13 to June 18 of this year. This represents 7% less than the same period of 2022.

Los Cabos led the 12 tourist hotspots in the nation tracked by this platform that week with 75% occupancy, which is 1.8% more than 2022; Cancun came in second with 74.3% but saw a decline of 5% from last year; and Puerto Vallarta came in third.

With an occupancy rate of 66.1%, Villahermosa came in fourth, ahead of Queretaro (58.3%), Mexico City (52.7%), Acapulco (51.7%), Aguascalientes (50%) Puebla (49.2%), Tuxtla Gutierrez (39.8%), San Miguel Allende (34.2%), and San Cristobal de Las Casas (25.7%).

However, the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, Christian Salvador Preciado Cázares, reported that hotel occupancy in Puerto Vallarta continues to be 95% on weekends and that this trend will continue in July, especially with the arrival of mostly families to the area.
