In 2023, Viva Aerobús has displaced Volaris as the airline that brings the most passengers to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, with 17 percent of the total, leaving Volaris in second place with 16 percent.

According to the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), last year Volaris was in first place with 16 percent and Viva Aerobús was in second place with 14 percent, meaning that Volaris maintained the same volume, but Viva Aerobús had the highest growth.

In the list of the top airlines in terms of volume, American Airlines is in third place with 11 percent, followed by Aeroméxico with 8 percent, followed by several foreign airlines that share a good “slice”, Alaska Airlines, Delta and United with 7 percent, Westjet with 6 percent and Southwest with 5 percent.

The remaining 15 percent is split among other airlines, including Mexican carriers.

From one year to the next, American Airlines lost one percentage point, although it maintained third place and first place among foreign airlines; however, next year this situation could change after the announcement that it will reduce operations to several destinations, including Puerto Vallarta.

Last year, Aeromexico was in eighth place with only 6 percent of the total, and this year it advanced to fourth place with two percentage points more of the total number of passengers.

Among the foreign companies, United is the one that fell the most, going from 10 percent to 7 percent, and West Jet also saw its volume drop by two percentage points of the total captured in the Vallarta terminal.
