Vallarta preparing World Tourism Day events

By Tribune Travel

September 20, 2023

On September 27th, World Tourism Day will be commemorated by the designation of elementary school children as “Guardians of the Tourist Heritage,” who will be given a tour of the El Salado estuary.

The topic of this year’s World Tourism Day celebration will be “Tourism and Green Investments,” with the major event in Puerto Vallarta taking place in the El Salado Estuary, with two city schools participating.

There will be some festivities on the side of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, but these have not been released, and the Municipal Tourism Board is also planning separate celebrations for this major day for the destination.

The Guardians of the Tourist Heritage initiative aims to promote tourist culture among elementary school students so that they can study and experience the benefits of tourism and encourage hospitality to tourists visiting their community.

Every year on September 27, the World Tourism Organization organizes activities to mark World Tourism Day. Its goal is to create international understanding of the social, cultural, political, and economic importance of tourism, as well as how the industry can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
