Riviera Nayarit has a new Blue Flag beach in Lo de Marcos

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) has awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award to Lo de Marcos Beach in Bahía de Banderas for the 2023-2024 season. This recognition is awarded for good conservation and cleanliness practices that benefit the natural ecosystem and the thousands of bathers who visit the beach.

Recently, the Second Meeting of the National Blue Flag Jury was held, where the decision was announced to award a total of 73 beaches, 33 sustainable tourism vessels and 2 marinas throughout the country for the 2023-2024 season. Among the awarded beaches is Lo de Marcos beach, which will soon receive the official award and will fly the blue flag on the beach adjacent to the municipality of Compostela, Nayarit.

With this accomplishment, Lo de Marcos Beach joins La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Marina and Nuevo Vallarta Norte Beach as locations with this international quality designation.

The Blue Flag program is a well-known designation given to marinas and beaches that uphold the highest standards for water quality, environmental management and education, safety, and a variety of services. These locations go through a strict verification and follow-up control.
