Hospiten tells us about National Hugging Day

By Milton Colmenares

January 30, 2023

National Hugging Day is an annual celebration of hugging. Kevin Zaborney invented it, and it takes place every year on January 21. The first celebration of the day took place on January 21, 1986, in Clio, Michigan, USA.

Although giving a hug may appear to be a simple action, it has significant emotional and physical benefits for both the person giving the hug and the person receiving it.

This date is marked in the annual calendar of Hospiten Group, who value the benefits of hugging so much that it incorporates a circle with two different colors into its logo, representing the abstraction of a hug.Scientific studies have revealed that the benefits of hugging extend beyond emotions and have a direct impact on people’s health. Hugging also stimulates the release of oxytocin, also known as the love hormone, a neurotransmitter that acts on the limbic system, the brain’s emotional center, promoting feelings of joy and reducing anxiety and stress.

Furthermore, they aid in the control of blood pressure, the strengthening of the immune system, the improvement of cardiovascular health, the reduction of fears, the improvement of mood, and the reduction of pain.
