This fall, we see pumpkins everywhere! Pumpkin is great for your skin. With lots of vitamins A and D, enzymes and alpha-hydroxyl acids, pumpkin can help to soften, soothe and brighten your skin, fighting signs of aging. Pumpkin beauty is IN this fall!

Take advantage of the benefits that pumpkin can give you with these easy DIY Spa-like treatments.

 

Pumpkin Beauty Mask

 

Ingredients: Start with a base of fresh smashed pumpkin, and 1 egg. Add in other ingredients – cranberry juice or honey, depending on skin type.
• Base: Whisk together ¼ cup of smashed pumpkin and one egg. The yolk adds nourishment while the white provides a subtle tightening effect to sagging skin.
• For oily skin: For an astringent effect, mix in a splash of cranberry juice.
• For dry skin: Add 3 teaspoons of honey, which not only seals in moisture, but prevents breakouts thanks to its antibacterial properties.
Apply the pumpkin mask over your face, relax for 20 minutes, and rinse with tepid water to reveal a brighter smoother skin.

Pumpkin Body Scrub

The combined ingredients will not only smell yummy but also exfoliate your skin and moisturize.
Ingredients: ½ cup of pureed pumpkin, ¼ cup of brown sugar, ¼ cup of coconut oil and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
In addition to the anti-aging effects of pumpkin, the coconut oil and cinnamon both have antibacterial agents to keep body breakouts at bay.
Add all the ingredients to a bowl and whisk them together until incorporated. Apply this scrub while in the shower for the least mess.

Pumpkin Foot Scrub

 

The alpha-hydroxy acids in pumpkin puree works to soften dead skin. Its vitamins soothe your skin. Honey is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, so it keeps you feeling fresh.

Ingredients: ½ cup pumpkin puree, 1 egg, ½ teaspoon honey, an old towel.

Combine the ingredients and massage on to your feet. Wrap your feet with an old towel and let sit for 15 minutes.
You don´t have to scrub your feet, the alpha-hydroxy acids do the work for you! So put your feet up and relax.

Rinse well and follow with your foot lotion.

Pumpkin Beauty Hair Treatment

 

Use this recipe for a healthy dose of vitamin A and potassium for your hair.

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of honey, ½ cup of pumpkin puree.

Add 2 tablespoons of honey to ½ a cup of pumpkin puree and mix. That´s all you need for some extra shine! Apply all over your hair and leave for 15 minutes. Then rinse it in the shower.

For each recipe, you can choose between using raw pumpkin or steam it and make puree. Before applying anything, test it on your inner arm. Individuals with allergies should consult their physician prior to any beauty treatment.
