Mexican Caribbean destinations on the top 2023 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice

Mexico continues to be a favorite destination for travelers from all over the world. This preference shows in the results of the travel portal tripadvisor.com’s annual Travelers’ Choice Awards, where Mexican destinations, hotels, restaurants and activities consistently appear.

This year is no exception, as Mexican destinations appear in four categories: Popular Destinations, Best Food Destinations, Best Nature Destinations, and Places for Culture. Here are the awarded spots.

Popular Destinations

The number 1 spot is for Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Cancun is in number 6, with the travel portal recommending the following activities:

•     Chichen Itza, Cenote and Valladolid All-Inclusive Tour
•     Jungle Tour Adventure: Speed Boat Tour and Snorkeling (Shared Speed Boat)
•     5-in-1 Cancun Snorkeling Tour: Swim with turtles, reef, Musa, shipwreck and cenote

Playa del Carmen also appears in the list in the 11th spot. According to TripAdvisor,

Playa del Carmen is one of the top diving destinations in the world, thanks to vibrant sea life and dazzling underwater caverns. On dry land, Playa is a hipper and more modern version of the fishing village it once was.

Best Food Destinations

Here is where you will find some of the best local flavors, If eating, snacking, and more eating are at the heart of your itinerary, says TripAdvisor.

Rome occupies the first place, which comes as no surprise as it has been there before. Ther is only one Mexican city on the list, Mexico City in number 12. The top recommendations are:

•     Teotihuacan, Tlatelolco, Guadalupe Shrine and Tequila Tasting Tour
•     Xochimilco, Coyoacan and Frida Kahlo Museum Tour
•     Historic Center Food Tour in Mexico City

Best Nature Destinations

Nature lovers have their own category too, and an important one. The number one place in the globe in 2023 goes to Mauritius, Africa. Cozumel, in the Yucatan Peninsula, grabs number 19.

Considered one of the top diving destinations in the world for its bright storybook coral reefs, the island of Cozumel is also home to a variety of natural beaches and untrammeled jungle.

Cozumel Snorkeling Tour: Palancar, Columbia and El Cielo Reefs, Cozumel Submarine Expedition and  Cozumel Food Tour are three of the top recommendations.

Best Places for Culture

The places selected in this category feature history, art, music, and cuisine, besides iconic sights and experiences you can find in very few places.

Fes, in Morocco, is in the top spot. Twenty spots below, right on place 21, is Oaxaca, Mexico. The old town pairs lively festivals and entertainment with fantastic cuisine and unique cultural attractions. Oaxaca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to spectacular venues and events along the year.
