Prostate exams, a useful tool in Hospital Joya

Periodic prostate examinations are uncommon in men, who, unlike women, do not have a culture of self-examination and visits to specialists.

As a result, Dr. Mauricio H. Nájera Ríos, urologist and specialist at Joya Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit Hospital, has invited men to join the worldwide trend of regular check-ups, which can even save lives and prevent diseases.

One in every seven men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime, according to estimates. This figure is very similar to that of breast cancer in women; however, men are typically diagnosed much later than women.

According to Dr. Nájera:

Prostate exams are used to detect several of this gland’s pathologies. Not all of the diseases detected are cancer; there are other problems that cause symptoms and can be detected in a check-up,

He added:

The prostate tends to grow in size as we age, This growth can lead to a variety of issues, including benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis, and, in the most severe cases, prostate cancer.

Most of these conditions, however, can be detected in time with a professional examination.

Specialists at Grupo Medico Joya can help you prevent, improve, or cure any disease or condition that may arise. It is critical to see a urologist both in an emergency and on a regular basis.
