By Tribune Travel

May 22, 2021

Gary Shirk and his wife are a US expat couple. They used to live in Chicago, and when it was time to retire, they decided to move out of the big city. After a stop in Florida to establish state residency, they eventually came to Puerto Vallarta in early 2020. The couple purchased a condo at Colonia Emiliano Zapata, in what is known as Romantic Zone. In this video, Gary shows us a US expat couple’s expenses in 2020

Indeed, it is an interesting exercise to see expenses with such detail, as Gary shows us everything they spent along 2020. Of course, figures must adapt to your personal spending preferences and likes.

The former software developer turned successful real estate agent breaks down expenses in several categories:

  • Groceries
  • Restaurants
  • Health Insurance,
  • Condo HOA
  • Pets
  • Clothing and Household Items
  • Language Classe
  • Gifts and Donations
  • Life Insurance
  • Mail Service
  • Medical Expenses
  • Subscriptions and Fees
  • Mobile Phone
  • Condo Trust Fee
  • Condo Repairs and Upkeep
  • Transportation
  • Entertainment
  • Internet and Home Phone
  • Condo Insurance
  • Electric Bill
  • Property Tax

So, let’s not spoil the video and let’s watch Gary explain what every category means and how it has gone for them. Although by the look of them, it hasn’t gone bad at all!
