August 10, 2023

Christian Preciado, director of Municipal Tourism, announced that in three weeks, the rehabilitation of Puerto Vallarta’s Malecon will begin with an investment of more than 5 million pesos from the Zofemat Fund.

Throughout this year, the poor condition of the boardwalk has been more visible, where the concrete decks are broken, there is no good lighting and there is a lack of paint, among other aspects.

A few months ago, the City government of Puerto Vallarta submitted a request to the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat) to obtain resources and give maintenance to this place, so in 3 more weeks the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of this place will begin. It has been damaged by hurricanes such as “Nora” and by the high waves that occur in the bay.

Soon there will be some restrictions in the Malecon where work will be done; and it will not be in a specific area, but in several at the same time, such as the lights, the handrail that is practically destroyed and that was behind the Puerto Vallarta letters, also the bridge of the Malecon two that is already very worn due to the erosion of the salt.

These works of rehabilitation and maintenance of the boardwalk will take two to three months and will involve an investment of more than 5 million pesos.

According to the Municipal Department of Public Works and Strategic Projects, an external company will be in charge of the maintenance of the boardwalk, although the decision has not yet been made, but it could be in another week.
