Bianca Marroquín: A Broadway Star Shines Bright in Puerto Vallarta Once Again

March 25, 2025
This past weekend, Puerto Vallarta was illuminated by the radiant Bianca Marroquín, who returned to the Act2PV Theater for two unforgettable nights of music, storytelling, and passion. On March 22nd and 23rd, the Broadway icon delivered a mesmerizing performance with her show, From México to Broadway and Back!, captivating audiences with her electrifying presence and raw emotion.
But her visit wasn’t just about the stage—it became a cultural event across the city. Marroquín made waves in local media, sitting down for interviews at CPS Media studios on Aquí en el 10 on TV Mar, as well as on El Resplandor, the most popular morning show on Radiante 98.3 FM. She also took time to chat with Asphalt Radio, Vallarta’s all-English radio show, where she reminisced about filming the Apple TV+ series Acapulco in Mexico, sharing how the marina setting brought back cherished memories from the set.
An Evening of Unforgettable Music and Emotion
On stage, Marroquín delivered a stunning mix of Broadway hits and timeless Mexican classics, accompanied by the phenomenal pianist and Liberace impersonator David Maiocco. Through each song, she took the audience on a journey through her life and career, from an aspiring ballerina in Mexico to her historic two-decade run as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway.
One of the most breathtaking moments of the night came when she performed Bésame Mucho alongside David Sabella. Their duet was nothing short of spellbinding, sending goosebumps through the audience as they witnessed two world-class performers pouring their hearts into the music. Before the performance, Marroquín spoke about her deep friendship with Sabella, reminiscing about how they first met and how their bond has only grown over the years. Seeing their chemistry on stage—two masters at their craft—was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone in attendance.
A Night of Revelations and Resilience
In a deeply personal and emotional moment, Bianca opened up about a struggle she had never before shared publicly—her 12 miscarriages. The most recent, she revealed, happened on January 30, 2024—the very day Broadway legend Chita Rivera passed away. With immense courage, she shared how she has come to terms with the fact that she was not meant to be a mother herself, but instead embraces her role as a stepmother of four. By speaking openly about her pain, she hopes to offer solace and connection to others who may be going through similar experiences.
A Star-Studded Audience and an Ever-Growing Legacy
The evening was not only unforgettable for those in attendance but also significant for Puerto Vallarta’s cultural scene. Among the notable guests were Laurel Carrillo, Puerto Vallarta’s Minister of Culture, as well as internationally acclaimed actors Noé Hernández and Paola Flores, whose presence highlighted the importance of bringing world-class performances to the city.
Minister Laurel Carrillo emphasized the need for the local community to be present at events like this, stating, “Talent of this caliber is hard to come by, and we must increase awareness so that more people can experience and appreciate these incredible performances. Art and culture enrich us all, and it’s vital that we support them.”
A particularly heartwarming moment came when Bianca touched the hearts of Sofía and Kiara, two young members of Coro de la Orquesta Escuela de Puerto Vallarta. Thanks to David Sabella and Act2PV Theater, these talented girls had the opportunity to witness a Broadway star up close—an experience that will undoubtedly inspire their artistic dreams for years to come.
A Community Effort to Bring World-Class Talent to Vallarta
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of Donna Mortara, the proud sponsor of Bianca Marroquín’s performances in Vallarta. In an exclusive interview with CPS News, Mortara expressed her joy in making this event happen, stating, “Puerto Vallarta thrives on art and culture. We need to continue bringing artists of this caliber to the city because these experiences enrich the community.”
As the curtain fell and a thunderous standing ovation filled the theater, it was clear that Bianca Marroquín had once again left an unforgettable mark on Puerto Vallarta. And as the legendary Chita Rivera would say, “Bianca Marroquín’s second time in Vallarta was simply delicious!”
