Stephanie Wright: A Star in the Making at Act2PV 

Some performers take the stage with years of training, a wealth of experience, and an air of polished confidence. Others arrive with nothing but raw talent, unshakable determination, and a dream they never quite let go of. Stephanie Wright falls into the latter category, and that’s exactly what makes her story—and her performance—so compelling.  

A Maryland native, Stephanie spent years yearning to escape her home state, eventually landing in Utah (a detour even she seems to find amusing) before setting her sights on something bigger. Mexico called, and Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant entertainment scene welcomed her in ways she never expected.  

Stephanie’s journey to the stage wasn’t a straight path. She wasn’t an actress. She wasn’t a seasoned performer. She was, however, someone with a voice—and the courage to follow where it led. Act2PV became her proving ground, a place where a popurrí of songs, emotions, and revelations shaped her artistic identity. From Carole King’s heartfelt storytelling to the haunting harmonies of “California Dreamin’”… her musical selections felt deeply personal, as if each lyric was another step in her own journey.  

It was ”Mamma Mia!” in 2019 that first ignited her dream —and the unexpected encouragement from director Danny Minnini—that truly set it ablaze. “You’d be perfect for a chorus line,” he told her. And just like that, a spark became a flame.  

Her performance of ” Winner Takes It All” was a gut punch, a moment of reflection on success, setbacks, and the long road to discovering what one is meant to be. Stephanie doesn’t just sing; she feels every note, and in turn, so does the audience.  

She also wrestled openly with insecurities—a theme woven throughout the night. But as she so beautifully put it, greatness doesn’t come from the fear itself, but from the willingness to face it. That realization culminated in “Hey Insecurity,” a song delivered with such raw vulnerability that it left more than a few audience members (including Stephanie herself) visibly moved.  

Another standout moment came with “Time Is My Friend,” a song that served as a quiet reminder that life is full of unexpected revelations. Sometimes, you have to take a breath and ground yourself, let life’s little “aha” moments guide the way.  

As the night drew to a close, Stephanie took a moment to thank the people who had supported her on this journey. The uphill battle, the moments of doubt, the victories—they all led to this stage, this moment. “If They Could See Me Now” was more than just a number; it was a declaration.  

And then, a fitting ending: “You Know You Can Always Trust the Wind.” A song about trust, about letting go, about believing that wherever life takes you, it’s exactly where you’re meant to be.  

Stephanie Wright may not have started as a professional performer, but after a night like this, there’s no denying it—she’s become one. And if this is just the beginning, Puerto Vallarta better get ready.
