Broadway legend Karen Mason graced the Casa Karma’s Red Room at Act2PV in Puerto Vallarta on Sunday January 12th  for her highly anticipated Mexican debut. Known for her magnetic stage presence and powerhouse vocals, Mason delivered a performance filled with humor, emotion, and timeless Broadway classics, leaving the audience deeply moved.

Opening the evening in a striking all-white shimmery ensemble, Mason immediately captivated the crowd with her charm and wit. She shared stories of her Broadway journey, from her first show, Play Me a Country Song, to being a standby in Sunset Boulevard. Her ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with powerhouse performances, such as her renditions of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” and a medley of New York, New York/All I Need is One Good Break, showcased her versatility and deep connection to her craft.

Karen expressed her joy at performing in Mexico, even singing a tender version of ABBA’s “I Believe in Angels” in Spanish—a touching gesture that won over the audience. She also brought humor to the stage, joking about performing songs that hadn’t been heard since 1982 and setting the dramatic scene for a standout number from Sunset Boulevard.

Her performance of “Ring Them Bells” brought energy and laughter, while the haunting ballad from Sunset Boulevard highlighted her ability to convey raw emotion. Karen’s dream of sharing the magic she feels onstage became reality as she dedicated her final song, “It’s a Quiet Thing,” to her audience, thanking her team and producer Christopher Denny, as well as her supportive husband and album producer  Paul Rolnick.

The evening ended with a standing ovation. Later, Karen Mason took a moment to express heartfelt gratitude to several key contributors. She thanked Music Director Christopher Denny, Stage Director Barry Kleinbort, and Act2PV’s General Manager, David Sabella. Karen also extended her appreciation to the Marcela Resort and Spa, and Jessy Ruiz for “the wonderful interview on Asphalt Radio”. In a delightful moment, she even sang “Happy Birthday” to an audience member named Sandy.

Karen introduced her new CD: “And All That Jazz”, which I personally recommend, and acknowledged the invaluable support of her husband, Paul Rolnick for the production of her album. Reflecting on the night, Karen described her Mexican debut as “a joy,” leaving the audience with a sense of magic and admiration for her unparalleled talent.

If you’re in Puerto Vallarta, don’t miss this chance to experience Karen Mason’s unparalleled talent—her show is a masterclass in Broadway brilliance and heartfelt connection. Get your tickets for the show on January 16th and 18th at 7pm at the Act2PV’s website: ACT2PV.com
