Oyster Bliss by the Sea: Bucerías Festival Celebrates Culture, Flavor, and Tradition This Easter

April 15, 2025
Bucerías is getting ready to serve up one of its most beloved traditions once again: the Festival de Ostión is back for its 30th edition, happening April 19 and 20 at Playa El Punto—right in the heart of Easter Week.
This beachside celebration brings together locals and visitors for two days of food, music, and deep-rooted coastal culture. At the center of it all? Oysters. More than 5,000 of them—shucked and shared for free, thanks to local fishing cooperatives who offer part of their harvest as a gesture of gratitude to the sea.
But it’s not just about the oysters. The festival is packed with traditional seafood dishes—from ceviches to whole fried fish—plus live music, folk dancing, storytelling, and local art that showcases the spirit of Bucerías. It’s a sensory dive into the flavors and customs that have shaped this fishing village for generations.
One of the most striking parts of the event is the tribute to the region’s oyster divers—who still free dive without modern gear, using knowledge passed down through families who’ve lived by and from the sea.
The 30th Festival de Ostión runs April 19 and 20 at Playa El Punto in Bucerías.
