Tracy Stark’s Tapestry: A Night of Emotion, Purpose, and Timeless Songs
January 31, 2025
There are performances that entertain, and then there are those that move you. Tracy Stark’s show: Tapestry, is the latter—a night of raw emotion, musical mastery, and deep respect for the craft of songwriting. If you haven’t secured your seat yet, consider this your formal invitation: February1st and 3rd at 7 PM at Act2PV is where you’ll want to be.
At its heart, this show is about storytelling through song, and Tracy is a woman with a purpose. She doesn’t just sing—she inhabits the music, carefully weaving together her own compositions with those of legendary songwriters, particularly the iconic Carole King.
-A Love Letter to Songwriting
Opening with a nod to Tapestry, King’s landmark album, Tracy set the tone for the evening with classics like I Feel the Earth Move, backed by a powerhouse three-girl local chorus formed by: Montse Serrat, Stephanie Wright, Watts Delilah Beaucoup. But this was no mere tribute concert—this was a conversation, a journey through the soul of songwriting.
Tracy shared stories, sang with feeling and kept the surprises coming—shifting gears into Dar Williams “When I Was a Boy”, a song so evocative that Tracy admitted, “I like to listen to one song at a time because it’s like watching a movie.” Then she presented one of her own compositions, “Find My Strength”—a moment of vulnerability and sheer brilliance.
-A Tapestry Woven with Surprises
With humor and warmth, Tracy acknowledged Broadway influences, even playfully defending “Beautiful” after a teasing remark from an audience member. And then—another turn. Bruce Springsteen! Yes, she took us there, praising The Boss for his poetic storytelling, even in unexpected narratives, like a criminal trying to impress his girlfriend.
The surprises didn’t stop. A moment of pure admiration for Jimmy Webb, the man behind “Up, Up and Away” and Sinatra’s classics, led to a performance of “If These Walls Could Speak”. She then pivoted once more, introducing contemporary songwriter Jill Sobule, with the razor-sharp political satire “America Back—What the F*** Do They Mean?”
-Back to the Roots of a Legend
But at its core, this show was a love letter to Carole King. Tracy reminded us that when King had her first hit, she was just 17 years old. She leaned into the cultural shifts of the 1960s, leading us through “Where You Lead I Will Follow” before introducing a song once deemed “too sexual” for its time: “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”
The night ended on an unforgettable high. As the audience roared for an encore, Tracy gave them what they craved: “Life Has Been Kind”—a song that perfectly encapsulates the gratitude and depth that ran through the evening.
Then, as if wrapping us all in a collective embrace, she led the entire room in a sing-along of “You’ve Got a Friend.”A perfect, heartfelt finale to a show that reminded us why we fall in love with music in the first place.
-Don’t Miss This Show!
This is more than a performance—it’s a musical experience, one that will leave you moved, inspired, and humming for days. Catch Tracy Stark’s Tapestry at Act2PV on February 1st and 3rd at 7 PM—because music like this deserves to be heard LIVE.
