Traffic changes due to construction cause chaos in downtown Cancun

Traffic changes are causing chaos for motorists traveling from downtown Cancun to the International Airport and vice versa.

From 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day, there are cases of motorists crossing the curb of the Cancun-Tulum highway to go from the north-south lane to the opposite direction.

This is due to the traffic operations set up by the Transit Department to make motorists coming from the south enter the airport from the Fonatur roundabout, at the end of the hotel zone.

On the other hand, the traffic detours in the last week to reach Tulum Avenue from Labná Avenue, force both private vehicles and public transportation units to use neighboring streets to cover their route, and even more detours.

It should be noted that the transfer from downtown Cancun to the airport, through Colosio Boulevard, can currently take more than 40 minutes, especially during work arrival and departure hours, while the transfer from the south to the airport takes twice as long.
