Aeromar closure affects passengers from Puerto Vallarta

Hundreds of domestic and international tourists from Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay will be affected by the definitive closure of Aeromar, which until Tuesday, February 14th, offered up to 40 weekly flights to and from Gustavo Diaz Ordaz Airport.

The cities the airport of Vallarta had connections with are: Mexico City, Guadalajara and Aguascalientes, strategic destinations for Puerto Vallarta as these places concentrate the so-called “domeastic tourism.”

The company is expected to inform its clients of the measures for refunding money in case they have already paid for flight tickets.

Sheraton Buganvilias Resort Hotel receives 14 “H” Distintivos

This Wednesday, February 15, the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort Hotel received 14 Distintivos “H” for meeting quality standards in its food and beverage establishments, joining the 15 hotels that have recently received this recognition from the Jalisco Ministry of Tourism.

So far this year, only two awards have been given to hotels in Puerto Vallarta, which is a recognition given by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health to permanent food and beverage establishments that comply with the hygiene standards established by the Mexican Standard NMX-F-605-NORMEX-2018.

Carnival of La Paz 2023 kicks off today

The Carnival of La Paz 2023 begins today, after being suspended for two consecutive years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Grammy- Award winners Tigres del Norte to headline Fiestas Tradicionales in San Jose del Cabo

Land for Tulum airport released, but funds for construction lacking

The expropriation and negotiation of land for the new Tulum airport has been completed, but the allocation of funds is still pending.

The Ministry of National Defense will be responsible for its construction. However, the allocation of the necessary funds to begin work on the 1,200 hectares of land southeast of Tulum is still pending.

Although the federal budget for Quintana Roo for the year 2023 has an increase of 14.2%, a large part of these resources correspond to public works that began in mid-2022, and also does not include resources to advance in the construction of the Tulum International Airport.

Cancun hotels reject environmental tax and demand its repeal

Cancun’s hoteliers are rejecting the increase in the Environmental Sanitation Fee charged to tourists and will ask the XVII Legislative Assembly of the State Congress not to approve it, since the City Council has already done so in the Finance Law.

Jesús Almaguer, president of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, pointed out that there are no conditions to increase the tax from 30% to 70%.

This tax is charged in Cancun per occupied room per night, in 2022 it was 28.87 Mexican pesos and about 249 million pesos were collected. Now, with the new increase, they intend to collect more than 500 million pesos by 2023, which will be charged to tourists.
