Queen Elizabeth’s Visit Hits 40 Years

The yacht HMY Britannia landed in Puerto Vallarta on February 23rd, 1983, bearing Queen Elizabeth II, monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and leader of the Commonwealth of Nations, which consisted of 53 states, 51 of which were part of the British Empire.

Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Mexico on an official visit, escorted by the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Consort, Phillip Mountbatten. The President of Mexico, Lic. Miguel De la Madrid Hurtado, the Governor of Jalisco, Lic. Flavio Romero de Velasco, and the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arq. Jorge Leobardo Lepe Garca, as well as the wives of the three Mexican legislators, were present.

Famous Golfer Greg Norman to build two luxury golf courses in Los Cabos

Greg Norman, the well-known golfer turned course designer, has been commissioned to develop two new golf courses in Baja California Sur.

A large golf complex with a course and a half in Los Cabos will be among the features.

The Las Cabos project will include 27 holes spread across 1302 acres of land on the Cabo coast. The course will initially consist of a little less than a mile of holes going along the coastline.

Together with the course, two new luxury hotels with private villas are planned for the neighborhood. Private homes will also be developed along the golf course, according to the original designs. Construction on the ambitious scheme might begin as early as this year.

The Los Cabos Art Festival will begin in March

San Jose del Cabo’s artistic spirit will be on full show as the municipality prepares for a new six-week-long Los Cabos festival, which will begin in March.

The ABC Art San Jose festival will be part of the broader ABC Art Baja California festival, which will feature events in La Paz, Todos Santos, and San Jose del Cabo.

The festival’s “Lo Local” section will highlight projects and places in each of the local villages. Restaurants, pubs, hotels, music venues, art galleries, and artists’ studios are all eligible to participate in the event.

The ABC Art Baja California event will take place from March 10th to April 23rd. Other events yet to be confirmed, will take place in San Jose del Cabo, La Paz, and Todos Santos over the course of the festival’s 45 days.

Quintana Roo going for more Colombian tourism

Quintana Roo is seeking alliances with tourists from Colombia during the 42nd edition of the Tourism Showcase of the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO).

State officials are in Bogotá until Friday promoting the Mexican Caribbean.

The objective of the event is to generate an attractive offer and help consolidate the tourism industry through commercial alliances of dozens of international destinations, airlines, hotels, travel agencies and cruise companies, the Government explained in a statement.

Representatives of all destinations in the state are in attendance with the mission of attracting more travelers from Colombia, the fourth most important market for the Mexican Caribbean.

In 2022, Colombia contributed 417,547 travelers, 75.19 percent more than in 2019, after the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

According to the Hotel Association, significant projects are coming to Costa Mujeres in 2023. The initiatives are a result of the success of the Isla Mujeres Continental Zone.

The region has taken off, and it is now one of the top five chosen locations for both domestic and international tourists.

The new developments will result in around 2,000 additional hotel rooms arriving between 2023 and next year. The new offer being developed in Costa Mujeres is very different, exclusive, and has enormous growth potential due to its unique attractions in terms of the size of the beaches, vegetation, and service.
