Bahía de Banderas to host the sailing national competitions
From 25 to 29 May, 160 athletes from 9 states of the country will participate in the CONADE National Games 2023 in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle; the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas, Compostela and Tepic will be sub-hosts in nine sports disciplines.
As part of the activities for this year’s CONADE National Games, Bahía will host important national competitions: the sailing competition from 29 May to 29 May, the triathlon from 29 May to 1 July, and from 26 June to 1 July, some of Nayarit’s beaches will be ideal for surfing competitions.

12 flights at Vallarta airport affected by Popocatepetl activity
Following the fall of volcanic ash from the Popocatepetl volcano, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) announced that seven flights were delayed and five operations were cancelled at Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
Although GAP did not identify the 12 flights that had been impacted since last Saturday, it did alert users via the airport’s local Facebook page that some flights to and from this city had been delayed due to ash from Popocatepetl.

Air route expansion in BCS: Los Cabos and La Paz on the rise
The Secretary of Tourism and Economy (Setue) of Baja California Sur has announced that eight new air routes will be opened in the state this year, seven domestic and one international. The main destinations that will benefit from these new routes are Los Cabos and La Paz.
The head of Setue, Maribel Collins Sánchez, highlighted that Los Cabos will benefit from four new domestic routes. These include flights from Mexicali with two weekly frequencies, Ciudad Juarez, Queretaro with four weekly frequencies and the recently launched flight from Cancun.

Los Cabos receives 4 nominations for the World Travel Awards
Los Cabos has once again distinguished itself on an international level by being nominated as one of the most outstanding destinations in the industry by the World Travel Awards, known as the “Oscars” of the tourism industry.
The nominations and voting for the World Travel Awards are carried out by a group of industry experts who are members of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). These experts are connoisseurs of accommodation, experiences and hospitality.

Hoteliers to use Guest Locator during hurricane season
The Director of Tourism Promotion, Carlos Jiménez, said that for this hurricane season, hoteliers will use the Guest Locator platform to know how many tourists are in the hotels and to have their location in case of hydro-meteorological contingency.

Downtown Isla Mujeres to go through renovations
The downtown area of the island of Isla Mujeres is set for major renovations. On Tuesday, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez toured the area where the infrastructure improvement projects will begin.
The renovations are part of the strategies to improve the image and infrastructure of the Downtown Zone and Rueda Medina Avenue.
