Difficult to regulate the All-Inclusive plan in the hotel industry

It will be difficult to regulate the all-inclusive plan in the hotel industry, as the Congress of the Union intends to do, because the amount of the costs and the percentages that are dedicated to food, lodging and entertainment of the prices paid by the guests are very variable.

This was the opinion of Jorge Peralta, manager of the Mío and Friendly Hotels, who stated that hoteliers comply with all the tax aspects established in Article 50 of the Public Finance Law of the State of Jalisco, which indicates what must be taxed for lodging, meals or activities.

The National Chamber of the Restaurant and Catering Industry (Canirac) predicts that the Mother’s Day celebrations will last all week, although most of the restaurants in Puerto Vallarta looked crowded this May 10th.

“The expectation of the restaurants in general was very high. Right now, I am working in one of my restaurants and we are saturated with work. We hope that all the other restaurants will have the same concentration of customers. We were expecting 80 to 90 percent, I think we met that expectation, but also for the rest of the evening the restaurants are ready for dinner,” said the president of Canirac Vallarta, Jorge Carbajal.

Mexico received 2,712 million dollars from tourism in March

In March, the country received around 2,712.8 billion dollars from international tourists, an increase of 7.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to official figures.

Domestic tourists accounted for 95.61 percent of the total, with the remainder coming from cross-border tourists.

Cancun reinforces beach security as summer season approaches

New security measures have been introduced in Cancun to protect visitors and discourage crime on the city’s well-known beaches.

Agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security are now policing popular tourist locations, such as the El Nino and Punta Sam beaches, alongside local law enforcement and the National Guard.

The agents will also keep an eye on the Supermanzana 89 region and well-known commercial areas close to the coast.

Hotel chains join efforts to fight sargassum in Cancun

Spanish hotel companies such as Meliá, Riu and Barceló are among the most affected by the massive arrival of Sargassum because of their strong presence on the beaches of Quintana Roo’s tourist destinations, so they work at night with heavy machinery and during the day gardeners are in charge of keeping the beaches clean.

Meliá has seven hotels in Mexico and plans to open three more in the next three years: Paradisus Playa Mujeres, ME Guadalajara and Gran Meliá Punta Canuva.
