Puerto Vallarta Convention Center to host 5 events in May

Mario Javier Barriga Moreno, director of the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, announced that during the month of May, five national and international events will be held in this venue, generating an economic impact of nearly 76 million pesos.

The first event of the month has already taken place and was the Vallarta Cup 2023, attended by more than 1,200 people among participants and their families, leaving an economic revenue of more than 2 million pesos.

 El Naranjo Turtle Camp receives the “Mexico Environmental Quality Award”

This week, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa) awarded El Naranjo Turtle Camp with the Distinction of Environmental Quality in Mexico for its compliance with standards such as water and energy conservation, recycling, waste separation, soil conservation, night patrols, turtle hatchling release, environmental education programs, and environmental protection policies.

Campamento Tortuguero El Naranjo has been caring for and protecting sea turtles for 25 years and is located near Peñita de Jaltemba, Nayarit.

Sea turtle nesting season starts in Los Cabos

The first nests of the Olive Ridley species of sea turtle have been found on the beaches of the capital city of Los Cabos during routine patrols by the Sea Turtle Conservation Program, headed by biologist Gabriel Olvera Guevara.

This family of sea turtles is the most common to visit the municipality of Los Cabos every season. During this first encounter, 82 eggs in the first nest and 113 eggs in the second nest were detected and protected.

San José Jazz Weekend Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary

The San José Jazz Weekend Festival, one of the most important musical and artistic events in the city, will take place on May 26 and 27. This event brings together the best and most talented exponents of jazz on an international level. Besides the music, the festival offers a wide variety of activities and experiences, including food and beverage vendors, art exhibits and workshops.

Raquel Rocha, general director and producer of the San José Jazz Weekend Festival, commented that the event is celebrating its tenth anniversary, so a series of important concerts are being prepared; highlighting the participation of saxophonist Danny Janklow, one of the most important musicians of the genre internationally.

Cozumel police seize horse-drawn carriages to enforce animal laws

The use of horse-drawn carriages, which has been forbidden in the state for years, is currently being actively discouraged by police in Cozumel. On Wednesday, island police officers hit the streets and arrested the drivers and their illegal carriages.

In order to enforce the state law for animal protection and welfare, members of the Transit sub-directorate joined the operation on Wednesday morning. This law prohibits horse-drawn carriages from offering tourist services.

Canadian tourism doubles its presence in Quintana Roo

The arrival of Canadian tourists to the Mexican Caribbean practically doubled in the first quarter of this year, with an increase of 90.5% over 2022, leaving far behind the figures of the first quarter of 2021, when only 14,81 thousand 81 of these tourists arrived in Quintana Roo.

During the first quarter of 2023, the Mexican Caribbean received 498,688.68 Canadian tourists. The same period last year was 261,333.
