American Airlines will fly Miami to Chetumal direct

The new flight will start this coming December

New opportunities arise for Quintana Roo: American Airlines announced new Latin American connections, with special emphasis on the direct fight between Miami, Florida and Chetumal, Quintana Roo. This new route will start operations this coming December. Chetumal is the capital city of Quintana Roo, the same state of Cancun and Cozumel, the other two airports where AA has flights.

The carrier will also have San Andrés, Colombia, as a new international destination. Within the United States, there will be new connections with Albany, New York; Burlington, Vermont; Madison, Wisconsin; and Syracuse, New York, plus Salt Lake City from December to April and Tulsa, Oklahoma, starting in November.

With more than 30 years of service, American Airlines is and will always be Miami’s local airline. The new service to Chetumal and other domestic destinations this coming winters are an example of our commitment to the economic development of our community, while it continues to grow and diversify.

Last December, the Chetumal International Airport doubled its air connectivity with the center of the country with the reactivation of operations by a third airline. Of nine flights that this airport used to have per week, now it will have 16.

Juan Carlos Liscano emphasized that this new international connection increases Chetumal’s connections with the rest of the globe, and that the reactivation will result in the arrival of more planes to Quintana Roo, bringing and taking foreign and national tourism in and out of the state.
