Vehicles will not need verification in Puerto Vallarta
Vehicles will not need verification in Puerto Vallarta while circulating in the municipality, nor for any other Jalisco municipality outside the Guadalajara Metropolitan Zone, contrary to earlier unfounded versions that circulated in the media.
From a Clarifying Note by the Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development:
The Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development (Semadet) emphatically clarifies the following:
Vehicles circulating in Puerto Vallarta do not need to process a Temporary Stay Pass, it is only required in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Zone (GMZ).
The “Responsible Verification Program” will be in operation only in the capital of Jalisco and its metropolitan area as of August 1. Vehicles that circulate in Puerto Vallarta do not need to process a Temporary Stay Pass, only it is required in the GMZ.
The note does mention, though, that the program might be implemented in the future on an unspecified date.
For the time being, it is important to be aware that if you are planning to visit Puerto Vallarta by car, you can do so without any special permission or paperwork. Please do not pay attention to rumors, check information from official sources, and feel free to continue enjoying everything Puerto Vallarta has to offer to all its dear visitors.
